I'm a non-traditional student. Strong MCAT and GPA. Won't go into all the details, but one interview = rejected. Couple of other rejections as well. No other interviews at this point. My guess is that I did not have enough clinical experience at the time of my initial application. Since then, I accumulated about 650 hours working full-time (since July) in a direct patient care job and I'd like to send an update letter to a few schools that accept them. How long and how detailed should the letter be?

Keep it short and simple. Describe what you did, where you did it, for how many hours you did it, what your specific role is and how its impacted your outlook. If you have no more updates than this, your letter shouldn't be much longer than a paragraph

Agreed that your update letter should be clear and concise! There's no reason to be overly verbose but take the time to explain your role/responsibilities, number of hours (total and per week), and any meaningful lessons or experiences from it. Additionally, if you can tie it back to a school's mission statement or core pillars/values and how you would be a perfect fit that's always helpful!
