Update on Application

I just recently returned from a week long dental trip to Honduras. I have already updated my application and added the experience. Should I email schools about the updated experience or is just adding the experience in my application sufficient?

I think just updating it on the app is fine. They're already bombarded with tons of apps and other emails.
