Hey guys. Thanks for all the advice so far on my other post. Since I posted it, I have talked to my premed advisor and another member of the committee that also initially wrote a rec for me. The writer of the rec, who used to be the chair of the committee and has been sending kids to med school for 40+years said that I should withdraw and try to get my money back. He suggested a post bac program that I can do well at that he would be glad to write a letter for, just not med school yet. So what I have now are three letters, one from my advisor who never taught me, but can attest to my abilities, one really good one from my fellowship advisor who was an anthro prof, and one from my philosophy prof which was my minor. They are all positive and think I can succeed in med school. So where I am headed now is to try to get these people to let me use their recs even though its only one science. So I might do that and just apply to those schools I already sent secondaries to.
My next part is that I am now thinking about going to a post bac program. For someone like me with a low GPA and low MCAT, it might take two years to get it up to snuff. I was thinking UPenns Special Science Program or Drexel's MSP program. The UPenn program is all undergrad with upper level science. The Drexel MSP program is half undergrad and half grad with MCAT prep courses and a mandatory spot in the MCAT in April. I am also wondering about entering in January 2006 if at all possible. So thats my story. Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.
