Hi All,
I am currently in the process of pursuing med school after finishing my undergrad this past december (2011). I have some updates and am looking for advice considering the circumstances.
A. I applied to UT Dallas as they had a specified Post Bacc Pre Health program and arranged an advising meeting with them after hearing great reviews from SMU and others as it being the best in the Dallas area. I found out through email the morning of my meeting (beforehand) that I had been accepted to UT Dallas. I went to my meeting and found out that the post bacc program has been put on indefinite hold due to conflicts with financial aid and wont be back up and running for at least a year. The basis of the meeting was very quick and was "Now that you've been accepted, we'll help advise you to finish your pre reqs and give you overall guidance". I was also informed that the student groups within the Health dept. are still very strong, including a student group for Post Bacc students. I asked if the program being put on hold for the time being would hurt my overall process for getting to med school, and I was told no.
B. Should I be concerned that the Post Bacc Pre Health program at UT Dallas has been put on hold? I've had a hard time understanding what that program had to offer if I'm being told all I have to do is finish up my pre reqs and I should be fine. I'm looking to start school back up in August....
C. If anyone from UT Dallas is reading this, what are your thoughts on the program?
