Update Ophtho Programs with Senior AOA

I applied to ophtho programs a month ago and was just notified that I was inducted into senior AOA. I was given the advice that I should email programs to notify them. Since this is stated in my dean's letter is it necessary to send updates to programs?

What is the SDN thought on whether to send an update now vs later in the cycle? I assume I wouldn't send multiple updates to a program over the course of the cycle.

For this significant of an update, now. It can make a difference in getting interviews.

For less significant updates (ie, "I honored my sub-I and did OK on step 2"), maybe later closer to rank list time.
