I asked for a LoR last month and my professor is probably writing it for me now. Meanwhile, I have additional document which I think would help in writing the letter. Should I update him now?

Your post is kind of vague, so it's difficult to give any meaningful advice. How about you just ask him/her if he/she has started writing the LOR? There's no reason why you can't just ask the LOR writer directly, is there?
