I posted this question elsewhere on the message board but didn't get that many views or responses so forgive me for sort of re-posting it. I know others have asked for reapplication advice but I figured a fresh post with some updates could be useful. I applied this last cycle but definitely applied late. I also applied to MD/PhD programs so by the time my application was sent to the MD-only committee, it was certainly too late. I plan on reapplying early this year but was hoping for additional advice.

Summary of stats:

GPA: 3.28 (pathetic, I know, but I failed an entire semester which didn't do me any favors)
Major: Biochemistry
Minor: Math, Physics, Biology
MCAT: 39
Shadowing: 100 hours
Research: 3 years
LORs: Writers say they're strong and I only asked professors I trusted to write letters, but there's obviously no way I can comment on the content.

On my first application, I neglected to include 2 years of activities I completed because my mother was the physician and my supervisor. I now realize that was a mistake and will include it on this year's application but it was from 2004-2006, so I figure I need something more current. Since last October, I've been volunteer tutoring (something I've done for many years) and working for a medical consulting company that basically sends me to local clinics to help out with patients in various capacities.

The main feedback I got from the schools willing to provide any was that I didn't have enough clinical experience, but if I add the 2 years I worked with my mom along with what will be 9 months with the current company, do you think I'd have a stronger application considering nothing else has changed? I know my GPA is the main thing killing me but I've applied for some post-bac programs and have yet to hear back. I have to assume I won't get into one of them so I think my GPA is what it is. It sucks because I took the MCAT in April 2011 so if I have to wait one more cycle and apply next year, my MCAT will have expired by 2 months :-/ I really don't want to have to retake it, especially with all the silly modifications that are being made to it. Any advice would be much appreciated, and sorry for the long post!
