general app question: how helpful is sending programs an updated transcript after submitting eras? necessary?

No need unless you get it in before your interview. Shortly after that, programs submit their rank lists--the consensus lists are rarely if ever changed.

But send it in if it makes you feel like you've done all you can to bolster your app.
