SIAP- is there any reason to update my transcript to include 4th year grades if I already have interviews at all the places I wanted? I got a HP one month and would prefer not to post that.

You can't update the ERAS transcript - if you ask your school to do so, apparently it shows up as an additional transcript and will just confuse programs (per my registrar's office).

If you want to show new grades, just carry a new copy to interviews with you. If you don't want to show new grades... just don't say anything until after match day.

I'm not sure if that's true. My school updated my transcript after my Sub-I grade posted (this was after 9/15), and there's only one transcript listed on ERAS.

they're lying to you to get out of having to do more work. i had my dean's office update my transcript twice after the initial submission and it shows up in the same slot.

Same, it shows up in same spot for me after re-upload

Verbatim, this was the email I got back when I requested my registrar to update my transcript since my sub-I grades had come in:

"Regarding ERAS, if you want another transcript uploaded to ERAS then you need to complete the Transcript Request Form. Please understand that the new transcript will go "on top" of the existing one so programs will be able to see all of it, which can be confusing. We suggest that you print your unofficial transcript and bring that with you to the interviews. Please confirm if you want a new transcript uploaded to ERAS."

If they were lying, then hell hath no fury like a med student scorned and tomorrow is about to become a very bad day for them.

It being in the same slot doesn't mean anything either way.

Like, how it works for LoRs: If whomever is in charge of uploading your letter uploads say, one with some mistake by accident and you've already assigned it to programs, you can have it reuploaded. Unfortunately, that leads the programs to see both copies, one on top of the other. Hence, if it's a 2 page document, they see the newly uploaded one as pages 1-2 and the original as pages 3-4. Still one slot in ADTS.

(Note: I have no idea if transcripts are like letters, but if they are, that would be consistent with all of the above posts)

this may be a dumb question, but do fourth year grades have ANY bearing on post interview rank lists?

my sub-i grade is already in...

No. SubI grade (and possibly MICU) is the only one that anybody cares about. Everybody gets honors on everything else anyway.

Bump... Different related question. Do 4th year grades matter after med school? When I go to apply for a fellowship will I submit my med school transcript? Just wondering if it even matters if I get a C for some (nonclinical) elective that I don't care about. Yeah yeah I know you guys are going to tell me to suck it up and put forth the work required for an A or B, but I've got a lot of other things going on and honestly this is just not my biggest priority at this point. However, I can make it a bigger priority if it will affect future fellowship applications, as I would hate to jeopardize anything now.

You will need to have your med school upload your transcript to ERAS as part of your fellowship application. Whether programs look at it and how much weight they give it is unclear. I did have one interviewer comment on my MSPE though.

As mentioned fourth year grades are uploaded with the transcript to ERAS when applying for fellowship. However, if it factors at all into fellowship consideration it's probably waaaaaaaaaaaay down on the list of things that are important. Most important are likely your clinical evaluations and letters, research, your board scores (to the extent that your score didn't drop precipitously with each step), where you went to residency (i.e. the prestige factor) and then everything else plus intangibles that you can't really control.

As someone who was once a fourth year I empathize wholeheartedly with not wanting to stress yourself out and do excess extra work. Just do the best you can.
