Updating an application in review?

I recently found out my research was accepted at two pretty competitive conferences, and that I earned an internship placement that will give me some really good clinical experience. I'm not sure if this is significant enough to warrant an update, so.... Should I attempt to update my application, and if so, how should I do it?

1. Email my POIs with the information, and attach an updated CV. (I'm worried that this might seem pushy or desperate, especially at this time of year)

2. Email the graduate secretary the info, and an updated CV (I'm worried that the updates will never be seen, especially if my app has already been looked at)

3. Or don't notify them at all?

Also, some of my schools have already extended invites to others, but I've heard nothing from them. Should I send them the updates too, or don't bother? 😕

I think this is one for the DCT on the board, but my gut is telling me that this is a card you play at the interview and not when your app is being reviewed.

Hmm, I suppose it depends on the school. In my graduate school, I would give it to the graduate secretary to put in your file to be looked at. The graduate secretary keeps all of the files and hands them out to be read. Also, at least 2 faculty have to read every file (not just the POI) and state that they want you for the program to get in, so you'd want everyone looking at your application to get that information. (By the way, I go to a large research-oriented state school, to put my advice in context).

I don't think it could hurt to send an updated CV, and ask the graduate secretary to replace it, or for the graduate secretary to put a piece of paper in the file explaining your recent successes.

I sent updated transcripts with my fall grades (since they kicked butt 😎), and they were just added to my application. No clue if anyone saw them but I think that's all I could do.
