does anyone know what the normal procedure is for updating CV related information after the ERAS has been finalized and submitted?
Do we contact all the programs with the updated info? (i.e. recent publication acceptance, med school award, etc.). If so, by snail mail or email?
Thanks!!!

Unfortunately, once you certify your CAF, you can not make any changes to the "CV" portion. All you can do is change your "profile," whihc includes information like your address and AOA status. However, you can add/change which PS you have designated to which programs and which LORs. Also, you can choose to update your USMLE transcripts if you got an awesome Step II score or whatever. When you do this, the program is automatically notified of the change by ERAS, though, and you don't have to do anything else special. Hope that helps.

That makes sense but I was actually more interested in how to contact programs after the finalized CAF to let them know about updated events - specifically if a paper that was submitted and accepted after everything was finalized. What is the proper thing to do to update your file - email, snail mail, bring an updated CV if invited to interview? Sorry if I wasnt clear in my first post's question

Oh, I'm sorry, too. That is a good question, and I don't know the best way to approach it. Does anyone else know? I was just assuming that you would bring up any new awards or publications on interview day..... But, if such things might help you actually GET the interview, then how do you let programs know? It seems like they would get way too many applications to sort out snail mail letters or email from everyone? 😕

Maybe u could update ur PS and mention it there?

I have the same question/situation. I actually was going to send an email to update each of the programs, I figured it couldn't hurt, right?

What is snail mail?

If you think that giving the new info to the program would help you secure an interview spot then i would write a brief PS and assigned it to the program. Its better than calling, faxing or emailing them.
