Hey everyone!

I finished my PGY-1 in june, and I have been searching for a permanent position since then but have not had any luck. I was updating my CV today, and wanted advice. Is it time to remove my APPE rotations from my CV? My RPD from last year told me to keep them while I was applying to PGY-2 programs, but I did not get in at that point. So now is there a benefit to keeping them or is this a distraction making my CV longer for no reason? My CV is about 7 pages right now.

Also, I am currently the editor of our pharmacy newsletter and I do not know which section to put that under? Any advice? I do not have any formal publications and do not want to add a section for a in hospital newsletter.

Thanks!! 🙂

In your situation I would keep them on there. Normally I don't care that much about APPE, but if I have a specific area of interest I am looking to hire, it can't hurt to keep them on there for your FIRST job, and then drop them. I have 15 years experience and my CV is only 5 pages (and I am a manger)

Damn 6 months post grad...

I'd skip PGY2 and apply for PGY3-4.

I am working per diem at my current job, but I am looking for full time clinical positions. I am not applying for PGY-2’s, I was referring to the advice my RPD gave me for last year.

Thanks!! I know my CV is a bit on the longer side, I tried taking every single opportunity presented to me in the last few years and it added up. I will condense it with important stuff only.

I would probably just keep them on there for the time being especially if someone on there would be willing to be a reference for you. Perhaps try to condense that section as much as possible and make your more recent things such as the editorial, PGY1 and per diem position type stuff are more of a focus. I dont have a lot of room to talk because i think mine were still listed when i applied for my second job but to be fair i was still only about a year postgrad and applied on a whim/hadnt looked at my CV for a while and just added my current job quickly before submitting. 99% sure no one read mine anyway.

Yes, since you don't have much actual job experience, I probably would keep them on, but consider it a minor part of your CV. Like Dred Pirate said, if any are especially pertinent to the job you are apply for, then you might want to highlight that. It's kind of iffy keeping them on after you have your first pharmacist job, which a PRN job is, even if it isn't full-time. But since it's been less then 6 months since you were licensed, I would vote to keep them on at this point.
