I was recently elected into AOA, and I was wondering how I go about notifying the programs. Do I update the profile section on ERAS, e-mail the program coordinator, and/or e-mail the program director? Any advice, especially from program directors, is appreciated!

Any of the three options you mentioned would be fine. Updating the ERAS profile might be easiest, but it's also going to be the one easiest to miss. I know I check the AOA status whenever someone sends a profile update, but I'm downloading from the post office less often now that my application deadline has passed. I think the safest bet would be to update your ERAS profile and email the PC.

Thanks for the tip! 🙂

Thanks for the response, mcl. I'm in the same situation, and am working on emailing all of the Program Directors - and CC'ing the Coordinators - with my update. Writing personalized emails to each PD is getting very time consuming, though, as I interviewed at about two dozen programs. I end up writing about how much I liked visiting their program, etc. etc. It takes forever.

Does anyone think it would be acceptable to write one (professionally worded) form letter about my update and send it to multiple programs? I was thinking I might be able to get away with the generic-ness of this, if it comes across as being a professional business letter kind of thing. After all, I just want them to know this one simple fact about me - I never really intended this to be my time to profess love for programs, etc. Any thoughts?

Yes, that's fine. Maybe put in one sentence to personalize it for each program. Whatever you do though, do NOT send 1 email and CC a bunch of programs.
