I bought the 6th edition of the Rivers Board Review books last year to study for my in-service and was thinking I'd use them to prep for the real boards this fall too. But does anyone think it's worth updating to the new 7th edition that just came out this year? It apparently has several new chapters, an online version, etc. Cost is $200 if I buy it while I'm a resident, and I can use my resident academic funds.

Along the same lines, does anyone think it's worth buying the new 2013 edition of Rosen's? I used the old edition during residency and would use either edition to look things up to annotate my Rivers books.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I think either River's are probably ok for the boards, although I admit I havent seen the 7th edition. Sixth worked fine for me. Then again, if you have an extra $200 of academic funds, it probably wouldn't hurt either. As far as textbooks I personally think they are a waste after you have a basic knowledge of things and wouldn't waste a dime on one. Especially Rosen, now that I have lost tons of respect for him after that court case in GA.
