Couple questions:

(1) I'd like to update dental schools about what I'm doing..... i'm teaching ap chem and ap physics at high school and i'm doing some volunteer work at a local dental clinic. How do I go about this? Just write a short letter to the dental schools explaining my plans?

(2) I'm going to retake my DATs in late november to improve my chances of getting into the "top schools" i applied to. Should I let schools know this or would this be a mistake? I'm concerned because my scores aren't bad, but not great (19/19/17 with 3.6 cum/3.57 sci)....if i let schools know i'm going to retake i don't want them to just totally blow off my file til i retake b/c for some schools these scores are sufficient. on the other hand, if i don't let schools know my intentions i may be rejected before i get the opportunity to retake. what are your thoughts?

I talked to a DS 4 on Friday who made hadn't heard from his top pick when he was applying, so he made an appt to meet with the dean of student affairs and ask why he hadn't been given an interview and basically state his case. It worked. I don't see why sending a nice update letter stating your intentions to retake the DAT would be a bad thing...face to face, if possible, might be good, too. 1) it will show your interest which is important 2) it will make what you're doing right now actually count on your app 3) it will make you feel better 🙂
