Did any of you guys take a backpack/laptop bag to your UPenn interview for dental school? And how many other people did you see who also had bags? Did they get in?

I didn't apply to UPenn but I highly doubt bringing a bag of some sort is going to keep you from getting accepted. Just make sure to ask a secretary to stash it once you get there.

Here's a good story...

I brought a bag for one interview and was rejected.

Everyone else that wasn't carrying a bag was accepted.

Therefore it must have been because of the bag.

A bag isn't going to hamper your admissions decision. Sometimes applicants arrive with a small suitcase as they are going to catch a flight or a train home after the interview. If you have questions about what to do with the bag, feel free to contact Corky and she'll be happy to tell you what to do.

But make sure first that everyone else already calls her Corky. You don't want to be rejected because they wrote in your file that you were the only applicant who didn't toe the line when it came to staff nicknames. 😛

Her name is actually Corky, and she is quite friendly. Most people have very positive experience during the interview process. I signed up to give tours and eat lunch with interviewees this year. Hope to see some of you guys (and gals) there!

I interviewed at Penn last year and DIDN'T bring a bag and was placed perpetually on the waitlist (which I guess is a rejection since the semester already started).

There were lots of people there with bags though. People brought bags to my other interviews too. Don't worry about it. You just leave your bag in the admissions office for the day and pick it up when you're done.
