anythoughts? I have to send in my deposits pretty soon. I would appreciate any advice.

Both good schools. Different programs, but the same end result...you are a dentist when you graduate. I'm biased towards Pacific, so they get my vote.

go upen. it is ivy league

Few things to consider:

1) Do you want an "ivy-league" academic heavy education, or one that has the main focus of preparing you to be a competent GP?

2) Where do you plan to practice? Though certainly not impossible, trying to get licensed cross coast is harder.

3) Which program fits your personality the best? Which one would you see your self happiest?

4) Do you enjoy living in the ghetto?

5) dim sum or cheesesteaks?

thanks guys. how about i make this more complicated? I'm from Portland, Oregon, but I went to school at Santa Clara University. I have lots of family here in the Bay Area, and I would love to practice here. However, here's the million dollar question. My LDR gf (3 years) is currently a medical student at UMDNJ, which is less than 90 minutes away Philly. UOP has always been my dream, but UPenn is not a bad second choice. Do you think its stupid to pick a school basing it on a relationship than your professional goals?

As for the relationship, I can see myself marrying this girl...in about 7-8 years after her residency and establishing my practice. We've always talked about going on a break after college so that we dont regret not taking one when we get married. If I move to Philly, we stay together and eventually get married if things continue to work out. If I move to SF, we go on a break. We dated each other for 3 years...first real relationship for both. In my heart, I think Uop is the right school for me, but its difficult to choose it when there's a relationship thats perfect on the other coast. I'm just afraid if I follow this route in SF, then I will pretty much lose her.

I believe in if its meant to be, it will be. Buts its definately hard to believe that when its happening to you. The balls on my court and I'm about to be called for travel...

Maybe I should talk to a shrink or put this in the relationship forum. 😕

OK, first off, you can't go wrong with those two schools!! Congrats!

Secondly: How old are you?

If you are under 24 years old, do not go to your second pick school based on a "girlfriend". You are too young to do something like that. Take that advice and be sure to thank me 10 years from now!

If you are 25 years or older and she is going to be your wife, then I can see that decision making a bit more sense.

Basically, if UoP is clearly the right choice when you subtract the girlfriend factor, then I say go to UoP.

PDizzle has spoken!

Sound advice PDizzle.

I'm 22, turning 23 before school starts. From that, I will be either 26 or 27 when I graduated. The only thing that's holding me back from enjoying my acceptance to Uop is my girlfriend. I really like Upenn when I was there, but more so the undergraduate and other professional schools. The dental clinics were a bit old and rustic for me, but the new building was impressive.

This is tough. I know I can see myself marrying this girl, and so can she. But we've always talked about taking a "gap year" to make sure what we have is right. I know this sounds great and mature in theory, but it sure sucks when you have to decide on it.

Wish me luck...its going to tough these next few days.

Thanks again everyone for your advice.
