UPENN rejection

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
But their average is actually lower than of other schools. PreDents lists Penn's GPA at 3.57. That average seems pretty low to me, seeing as how people lower than that should be getting in.

That GPA was for the class of 2009. We are now looking at two years after that. The GPA has gone up significantly. I spoke with someone who is in the class of 2010 and she said the avg of their class was like a 3.65. This yr it will prob be around a 3.7.

Either way, I'm still above the average GPA. 😉

I'm officially rejected by UPenn. Whether the fact that I handwritten my secondary play a part of this decision, I don't know.

I dont think handwritten have anything to do with the process, I typed, but still got rejection~

"Our decision is not a denial of your motivation or potential to become a dentist, but more truly reflects the extreme competition and increased quality of the applicant pool this year. May we remind you that no one has yet perfected the art of human assessment and that you can prove by your own achievements in the years ahead how very shorseighted our Committee was by not selecting you to interview for our program."

Blah blah blah...

puhaha.. def blah blah..... why do they go on like that. a well written essay wont make you feel better about your rejection anyway.

Yeah, I got my rejection last week. It was actually pretty gentle, like someone put some thought into it. I cant remember exactly what it said because I trash-canned it right after I read it, but I trash-canned it nicely. I know this sounds like sour grapes, but I wasn't going to go there anyways since I am pretty set on Pacific (assuming they accept me that is).

They are quite nice about letting you down, but it's the last school on my list that I would attend if I was given a choice. Luckily they made that choice for me. 🙂 Upenn is a wonderful school, but it's not the best fit for me. I applied to 5 and it's my number 5 choice. I've already interviewed at my 1st and 2nd. Waiting to hear from my 3rd and 4th.

just got my rejection. fantastic.

i think that upenn prefers east-coasters.

got my rejection today...at least it was something i was starting to think that dental schools forgot about me i havent heard anything since mid august when i got my interviews

i dont think so. the stats for the previous classes have just about the same amount of people from cali as they do pennsylvania.
