i was lucky enough to get in these two school...
and now i have to choose one ,,,
i know this is another one of those ...that pisses people off ...
but please help me ...
thanks in advance

The resounding theme on the thread I started comparing my two schools was money. So I’ll start there. Assuming your are not a Michigan resident, the 4 year estimated budgets are the following:

Penn: $320,000
Michigan: $266,000

That’s a difference of $54,000 plus interest accrued during school if you are taking out loans.

I have the same dilemma. I just mailed $1,500.00 dollars to UMichigan on Saturday though. As far as I know (from talking to dental students/professors), these two schools can offer the same quality of education (meaning, if you’re a motivated individual, you should be able to obtain good clinical skills, and also get into a specialty you desire because both of these schools offer similar elements..research opportunities, externships..etc.). I’m an out of state resident, so for me, the cost difference is approximately as the previous post stated. I think I would enjoy living in Ann Arbor over Philly (though it’s super cold). Anyway, hope it helps. 🙄

Can you share Armoshell's financial tool with us?? That would be great!
Thank you.

First of all, he has proprietary rights to it, so I would ask him for it.

Really, it is just a spreadsheet with 5 random schools (probably the ones he was looking at), and then breaks everything down for your life/budget after school. It uses a salary around $100,000 and then subtracts tax, loans, and shows how much would go towards housing, insurance, etc, with the remaining as positive cash flow.

The numbers I posted regarding 4 year costs, and the numbers in the spreadsheet can be taken from almost every school website. I know out of the 18 I applied to, only 3 didn’t have this number clearly stated.

Don't you love threads like this. I'd say flip a coin. 😀
