I have tried to search for a thread on this, but it didn't work out. I know that pitt screens before they send out secondaries, but does anyone know how much they screen. Basically, how likely are you to get an interview if you get a secondary. Feel free to redirect me to a preexisting thread if there is one on this topic. Thanks

Most of us have heard that 90% of applicants get secondaries; whether this is entirely accurate I don't know, but that was the number that was thrown around on the old Pitt thread (titled "Pitt Anyone?"). If you haven't gotten one yet don't worry, it'll probably come sometime soon.

Yah I actually called Pitt at one point and they told me 90%. By the way, I was at the interview on 10/17 as well!

But doesn't whether you get an e-mail depend on who interviewed you, whether or not they remember to or have the time to, etc? It's very possible I'm just trying to convince myself since I haven't gotten any e-mails yet either, but I believe one girl got e-mailed AFTER she got her acceptance letter and that it really is up to the interviewer whether they e-mail or not.

Pallcare, who were you (or rather who are you, as I'm assuming you're the same person now as you were Oct 17)? Geez we had quite the representation there that day!

Yeah, I think that is how it is. My interviewer specifically told me, however, that he would contact me once a decision was made.

Have you called to ask them why you haven't heard? I interviewed before most the people here and hadn't heard anything. I finally called and was told that they have decided to wait for my fall grades before making a final decision on my file.

Hmmmmm...do you know why? DO you have an iffy GPA? Are you taking prereq classes?

Well, at that moment, it was a surprise that they decided to wait since I had been given no indication on my interview that they planned to do it.

However, in retrospect, I should not have been surprised. I have a VERY low undergrad GPA (2.95) and a lower BCPM (something like 2.8 or so).

I've done a year of post-bac with a 3.9, and am currently enrolled in Georgetown's Special Master's Program (see my sig). I'm assuming they want to wait and see how I do here. See which student they would be getting.

Can't blame 'em. Just really bummed, I want to go to Pitt so badly!!!!

Thanks for the info. Wow, thats a lot of acceptances for ~150 seats. I guess quite a few people turn them down. As for me, I'm very excited about the interview. It seems like a great school. I'm more interested in this one than any other school I have or will be interviewing at so far.

It could still be an acceptance. Someone who posted earlier in this thread got an acceptance letter w/o receiving an email.

I started to think about not getting an email, and no one else on SDN getting one either...Maybe the committee made their decision later in the week than usual, and were delayed in providing the info to our interviewers. At this point I am just searching for any sign of hope or reassurance so take my theory for what it is worth.

I submitted my AMCAS at the end of July and I STILL haven't heard anything from UPitt. No secondary notice, no rejection notice, no nothing. Does this mean I suck and they don't want me? Or are they just really slow? 😕

They are REALLY slow. It's their first year using a different admissions system, and I think getting into the swing of it has them a little bogged down. So, I would say that no news doesn't necessarily mean bad news yet

Cuddly, ditto what others have said. It is not for sure that you are waitlisted or denied. Others have gotten admitted with no email.
