hi everyone,

i just received an email from UPitt to interview there and was wondering what you guys would do in my situation. i've already been accepted at BU and sent my deposit in (no other options at that point) and was wondering if you guys think it would be worth my while to attend this interview. any insight into this situation would be greatly appreciated.

wellll it depends on how much you like BU...if it is one of your top choices then I wouldn't bother interviewing at pitt. my cousin is a second year at BU and she lovess it. I personally loved BU, I interviewed there recently and am waiting to hear back from them. I interviewed at Pitt and am still waiting to hear back from them too but wasn't all that impressed. I would attend BU over pitt but that is just my personal opinion.

if you know you might be interviewing for a waitlist spot then that might effect your decision to go. I guess what I'm saying is just be as informed as possible before deciding.

How many people does Pitt interview each day? An earlier post says like 60 or something! That's a lot so I don't think it's accurate. If they're already booking for feb and they do interview that many a day then wow are there really just waitlist spots left?

anyone how full their class is so far? called yesterday and got no response.

Pitt is always so hard to get in contact with. My only concern is the one you mentioned about interviewing for a waitlist spot. 60 candidates a day seems like way too much to me and I'd also like to know how full their class is.

i don't know for sure if it's 60, that's just what an old post said. I really hope it's not because that means for those who are still waiting on an interview or acceptance from them have a LOT of people ahead of them! I've heard usually schools do about 10-12 people a day but unlv does 20 or 25 I think. I was just so suprised to read 60 for pitt. I really hope it's less so that means less people have gone and will go through interviews meaning hopefully more chance left at an acceptance!

anyone that has been on a pitt interview, please share how big the interview group was. It's bad either way because I haven't interviewed, just trying to figure out how freaked out I should be and what sort of chances are left :scared:😳

in my group there were around 50 ish

wow. i'm surprised the groups WERE actually that big. that is pretty ridiculous. how many people do they interview in total for the 80 seats?

WHAT! :scared::scared:😱😱😱how did they manage that? did they break off into smaller group for the tours and don't schools let you usually talk with other students during lunch or another session? Did they just have a lot of students come in for that or did you guys break off into groups again.

I can't believe they interview that big of a group at a time because wow it really must be so close to being full because they have been through SO MANY intervieweews now!!!

can anyone please confirm how full their class is?

I got into PITT and BU and I am leaning to PITT. You have your own chair (3rd and 4th share), it is cheaper to live, the people were friendly, the sim lab is new(bostons is nice aswell). I think it is worth going. Also for the interview alot of students are around for the lunch and you do break to smaller groups for tours.

....and Dack, I am from Calgary so you know there will be at least one other canadian.

Why not go ? Other than a couple hundred bucks for airfare and lodging, there's isn't too much of a downside that I can think of for your trip to Steeler-land. Options aren't a bad thing.

Everyone there is a Steelers fan. Wear a patriots jersey at the interview for extra stand out points.

JK.

anyone get in to pitt and knows how many have been accepted thus far?
how often do they interview?

from the interview dates everyone is listing feb 11, 18th and some day in march that it doesn't seem like they interview everyday...my guess is 3-4 times a month with 50 ppl each day? can anyone confirm or correct this please?

or maybe these people were given these days because pitt already filled up the other ones around these days? it just doesn't make sense why they would do a mon/fri during the second week of feb and then the next one be next month...perhaps they only hold sessions in the second week of every month and twice in that week?

This is what they told me when they interviewed me in November. They only have around 6 interview dates with 50 interviewees each. Therefore they interview around 300 people for the 80 spots. A large part of the faculty participates in the interview, around 25 faculty members will be interviewing the 50 interviewees, for around 20-30 minutes each. Hope this helps and good luck! My offer from Pitt was just rescinded because I didn't pay the deposit by the Jan 15th deadline, so another spot has opened up😉

Go steelers! . . . even though our season ended in misery.
. . . and I hear Tom Brady is limping around in a cast these days. Maybe it is Eli's time to shine.

this is such great info thank you!! from predents the days with interviews listed that i could find are:
Oct 15
Nov 26
Nov 12
Dec 17
Oct 29
Nov 12
Feb 11
Feb 18
Oct 13

which goes along with what you've said. Considering that 2 of these (and that 3rd march one) are yet to be held, that should hopefully mean that there's still a chance and that they dont' just hold 3 sessions for just waitlist spots. Even last year they only seemed to hold 4 post dec interview dates so it's not just a fluke this year. I would like to think that they do this because they think this will fill up their class. Who needs to interview 150 ppl to fill up a waitlist. I'm excited about this info, gives me hope about pittsburgh 😀

i just booked my ticket.
thanks guys for the info
