I just canceled my interview at upitt today for monday , 12/8....... if anyone wants to get their interview bumped forward so they can find out about admittance earlier, give them a call!! 412-648-8437

Hey, I understand you must already be accepted to a good school, but I just thought I would tell you how much I liked Pitt. I interviewed just before Thanksgiving, and I was very impressed with the program and the city (see Interview post for Pitt). Somehow the school got a bad rap on SDN. I was blown away by how great it is, because I had this negative overview of the school from some of the reviews here. Give 'em a shot.

yeah i dont doubt pitt is a good school. I actually took those reviews with a grain of salt and asked other people outside SDN of their opinion on upitt. My father actually went there for med school and loved it. I am only canceling because of the proximity of tufts to my hometown in NH and the hecticness (sp) of my finals scheduale. Thanks for the reply though.

Hey Mudduck,

I may have interviewed on the same day as you at Pitt. I interviewed on the 24th of Nov.

I will be going there in the fall, we may be classmates!

Did you also interview at Iowa?

How is the weather in Pittsburgh now? I am driving six hours from the west tommorow and do not want to get stuck in the snow.

Totally snowed in😀

good luck with your interview!

Aaronpsr,
Yeah, I was at Pitt on the 24th. I thought is was great. I am having a hard time trying to decide between Case and Pitt. The programs were both great, but I think Case has just a slight advantage in that area. Dentsims add to that advantage. Pitt seemed just a hair more interested in the welfare of their students, even though I know it is primarily the student's responsibility to learn and do well. Cost of living/cost of school is definitely in Pitt's favor. It is going to be a tough decision.

No, I did not even apply to Iowa. Good school, though. I have some buddies in undergrad that have interviewed there. We'll see what happens!

Mudduck,

Pitt has been the only school I have been accepted to thus far. And I have to admit, it was not my first choice....until I visited the school! I was really really impressed by just about everything.

The only thing I was concerned with was the location of the clinics. They seemed to be a little...um....how should I say....dark?
There was no natural light , and it seemed as though they were located in a rats maze!

Hot-N-Aml, what do you think about this? was I just imagining things? After all, it was a pretty rainy day on the 24th, and if there was windows in the clinic I may not have noticed them.

Mudduck-I was sitting at the table with the guy with the bowtie on at lunch. By the way, that guy (forgot his name) was very interesting...he was getting his MD in the spring and was switching to dentistry right after graduation! It was cool to talk to him.

Oh, yeah, Mudduck--you should just change your location to...
"read, ponder and pray...and you will find out" LOL

j/k buddy

That's good! I suppose you have read my one and only thread 😉

Oh, Aaronpsr...
It was a Pittsburgh rainy/snowy day the 24th. There actually are windows along one wall of the clinics, but I beleive they face another building, so not a majestic view by any means. But I was actually a bit impressed by the clinics. Oh well, one man's trash is another man's treasure, huh?

Mudduck,

I guess some windows is better than no windows....🙂

Actually I was impressed with the clinic itself, just not the dismal-ness of the location. I guess it is kind of a silly complaint considering the rest of the school was really fantastic, and the students seemed pretty happy.

So have you decided yet? Let me know your decision, we may be classmates in the fall!

Hot-N-Aml...I am still waiting for your take on the clinics 😀
