I have an interview at U Pitt on 10/18. I received the invite a month ago, and I sent a confirmation email to Rose Mangold. However, after a week of not receiving an additional email regarding confirmation or additional information about parking, directions, etc., I called the office and spoke with Rose about the letter and confirmation. She said that she would send the information, but I still have not received it. Could anyone help me out with this additional information packet? And for others interviewing on 10/18, did you receive a confirming email?

As far as parking, well, there is a parking lot right across the street from the dental school - this is actually the hospital parking lot, and the rates aren't too cheap, but it's close. Supposedly you can bring your parking stub, and when you leave, get the patient cashiers on the first floor to give you a reduced parking rate. Student / Faculty parking is further up the hill, but I don't think you can park there. Can't help you too much more there.

You can enter the building on the ground floor, take the elevator up to the second floor, turn left out of the elevator which will take you to a hallway with class pictures, make your first right, and you'll find the Continuing Education lecture hall, where the interviewees register. There should be a table which will have a folder with your name on it somewhere. These directions are a lot more simple than they sound, haha.

Well, just bring yourself, and a good apatite! The brunch at Pitt was the best food at any of my interviews, haha.

On a more serious note, if you've ever written / published any research articles, be sure to bring a copy - but if you haven't, don't stress yourself in this regard, you really don't need to bring anything.

Just be calm, and most importantly, be yourself. Pitt was by far my lowest stress interview, and they're really just trying to get to know you better.

Oh, just checked, you might want to bring a jacket / umbrella, it's going to be a high of 57, and a 20-40% chance of rain on Monday.

I have the interview tomorrow at Pitt also, I'm staying at the Hampton Inn. In the email Rose Mangold had sent us for the confirmation it says for cheaper parking we could drive up to the OC lot. Is this the lot you mentioned that you're not sure if we can park there? I guess if we park in this lot, there is a shuttle that will drop us off at the dental school for one of the stops. Just trying to figure out where to park before tomorrow morning. Thanks!

The OC lot is directly above the dental school, slightly further up the hill - this was the student/faculty lot I referred to. If she said to park there, well, that's your best bet! 🙂 It's not far to the school at all, you can see the large brown building - that's us. If you walk down the hill and come in the back way though, that's the 4th floor, so I'd suggest walk down to the base of the school and come in the front door.

Doesn't the Hampton Inn have a free shuttle that can drop you off at the school in the morning? If so, then you could do that and not have to pay for parking. Then just call them and have them pick you up afterward. Free and less hassle.

Exactly, this is what I did, worked great.
