Uploading Audio Osmosis to iPod

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It depends on the bitrate at which you encode the audio. At 128 kbps it's approximately 1 MB/1 min. If you encode it at 32 kbps (the lower limit that the ipod will play, IIRC) it will be approx 1 MB/5 min. There are about 12 CDs, each holds what, 70 minutes of audio?
You can do the math but all I can suggest is that you don't encode it at 128 kbps because the spoken word doesn't need that level of fidelity so that's just silliness.

im not advocating anyone do this..but why hasnt someone uploaded it all over the internet by now?

EDIT: nevermind

it honestly doesn't take up that much space. just make sure everything is labeled properly before you upload it to your player.

I had trouble moving the files from the cd into my i-tunes. Did anyone else have this problem?

when i uploaded AO I used windows media player. didn't cause me problems, but i've heard that it can upload the songs backwards 😕

yeah, AO uploaded a lot of the lectures backwards on my ipod (30GB video) and although the menu in itunes says that I have corrected the track order, it plays backwards in my MCAT playlist. Ah well.

How do I put the cds on my ipod using itunes?

When you put the CD in your computer, it should show on the Itunes that your CD is in it and click on that and then on the right hand corner there should be a import CD.

That will do it. Then you can label it and make new playlists for different tracks

I used iTunes to rip them, and they ripped perfectly. I don't suggest using 128kbps, you def. don't need near CD quality audio for two guys talking to each other. 64kbps should be fine (radio quality).

I made 5 different playlists: Bio, Chem, Orgo, Physics, and Verbal. Good stuff.

I had AO on my iPod Nano and found it to be quite convenient, especially if you're doing exercise. I think it took up ~1GB out of a total of 4GB.

It is online, I've found it, but it's not acquirable. You're much better off just buying it or checking out ebay.
