Where is the best time to have your school upload your transcript? Is it best to wait until end of October to have 2 - 3 4th year grades in, or better to do it now with only 1 - 2 grades in (so as to give programs more to work with to evaluate you)?

A few things to consider:

1) What was your 3rd year performance like? Was it below average/abysmal? If so, maybe then it's worth waiting to get some more 4th year grades it. If it was solid to excellent, why wait (esp given #2)?

2) Are there programs that you've applied to that have started giving out interviews to others (only way to really know is if there's a thread for your specialty on SDN) but not to you because you don't have your transcript in yet? This is the case for me with at least 3 programs right now, so I am very eager to get my transcript up ASAP.

1. Are you sure you have a choice? Many schools offer one upload time and that's it. Check with your registrar/student affairs/Dean's Office to make sure.

2. Aside from your Sub-I, nobody cares about your 4th year grades because grade inflation is rampant. I got honors in all of my 4th year rotations. Didn't matter whether I was walking around with my nose up my attending's butt or only showed up twice a week (both true stories). Programs know this and set their expectations accordingly.
