Upper Level Science Courses..

For those that have already gained acceptance or applied to DO schools, did you have to take more upper level courses than required.
Not sure if I should take any other Bio or Chem courses ontop of the ones I already have.
Already took:

- Gen Chem I & II + Lab
- Basic Life Diversity (bio) + Lab
- Anatomy & Physiology + Lab
- Human Physiology + Lab
- Organic Chemistry I & II + Lab
- Physics I & II + Lab
- Pathophysiology

Well, honestly, it depends on what schools you are planning on applying to. Some schools have additional biology, chemistry, and behavioral science requirements. You will need to do some research.

For instance, KCUMB requires Genetics and Biochemistry, in addition to the regular premedical prerequisites.

I'd suggest at least Genetics and Biochem, all of the schools I've been to have said having already taken biochem I and II was a big plus!

looks like you have a strong background. I ditto what others have said about biochem and genetics. If you have time I would take an immunology course too. I loved my course and it seems like it will be very helpful in med school.

pretty much any course that would be offered in med school that you can get away with taking as an undergrad would be good. Some great suggestions have been made already - genetics, biochem, immuno, histo, A&P - all great courses to take. Gives you a better edge when you end up taking those classes in med school, and you'd feel more prepared, and possibly do well in these course.

what qualifies as "upper level courses"? does anatomy and physiology I & II count? or is it any course under 300 level ? just looking to see what courses I should take

For KCUMB like someone mentioned you can still be accepted, you ARE required however to take biochem and genetics before matriculation. You have to put "Not Yet Taken" on APP. The limit for NYT's is 8 credit hours.

* Cell biology may or may not fulfill requirements and course syllabus can be reviewed to determine if it will count as one course or another, and it some cases, both.
