Upset about a grade

Well it will of course pull your GPA down but with all A's, 1 B and 1 C, I think you're being too hard on yourself. I can remember the days of being pre-med and all the stress that came with it, so I hear you. As hard as it may be, forget it happened, and go into your next semester with confidence and shoot for straight A's. Adcoms can overlook a C, especially if it's mixed in with A's. They know that no one's perfect and sometimes a combination of events can lead to an occasional bad grade.

You feel "absolutely miserable" about getting a C? It must be nice to have receiving a mediocre grade be a chief stressor in your life. Just keep working hard, and you'll be fine.

One C won't ruin your chances by any means. Just remember how disappointed you are with it and use that as motivation to study hard for the rest of your undergraduate classes. Keep your chin up, it will all work out fine and one C is not as big as it seems in the grand scheme of things.

I know how you feel. I got my first C+ last quarter in calc, and I know that it can be a real downer. You just need to do a couple of things, 1) Take a little time to calm down and look at the big picture. Like it was said, nobody is perfect. If your GPA is good all around, then one C is not the be all end all. 2) Once you have calmed down, take a look into why you got the grade you did. Was it study habits, a conflict of learning and teaching style, unusual circumstances, etc. That way, you are being proactive about it, instead of just sitting in your funk.

Don't worry about it, so long as you keep working hard and doing what your supposed to be doing, things will turn out fine.

In the long run, one grade means almost nothing

i was going to start my own thread until i saw this but i have a sort of similar question:

i got a totally unexpected C- in my second semester of human anatomy AND a C+ in orgo 2 🙁

I'm retaking organic 2 over the summer and expect to do much much better, but i can't retake my human anatomy class so I'm stuck with that grade. other than these two classes i've been doing just fine (3.6)

my question is, how bad is that going to look on my transcript?

@OP:
Hey man, one C will definitely not hurt you. You're a junior and you've been getting all A's and one B so far. So with that C factored in, your GPA sounds like it's still around a 3.5 or so. Just like the people above have been saying, try to look at the big picture. Unless you're a crazy gunner and are absolutely adamant about getting into like a top medical school, your grades shouldn't worry you so much. Everything will work out as long as you don't give up. I haven't heard a story yet about someone persevering and not becoming a doctor. As long as you've got the heart, you'll for sure become a doctor and get into a medical school. And there's no such thing as a terrible medical school... (I think 🙂 )

@FindingNismo:
Again, a couple Cs will go unnoticed for the most part. You might get asked about them during interviews, so just have your reasons ready. If you get A's and Bs for the last two years in college, you'll be golden man.
And if you still have a 3.6 after those two Cs then wow yeah, you shouldn't be worrying haha. A 3.6 is solid as heck, you don't need a 4.0 to get into med school, that's a common myth. Anyway, you'll be fine, just don't agonize and move on and do better in your remaining science classes!

What would you rank that on the psychiatric stressor scale? 😀
