Hey guys,
is there anyone who can recommend a good place to stay overnight for my Upstate interview? somewhere that is close to where the interview will take place? they recommend about 20 hotels on their website, but i don't know the area at all.
thanks

also - any recommendations on transportation from nyc to syracuse??

On transportation, I used to take the Greyhound or ShortLine from Port Authority - not that bad.

The Econo Lodge on James St. is fairly close...it would be walkable on a nice day. The cab ride from there is about $7.

MedAppGurl- when is your interview? Mine is on 3-10 and I am coming from NYC as well! Please let me know if you find out anymore info. on close-by hotels, etc. Thanks!

ashtie,
mine is 1/28 - i'll let you know anything i find out, and what works for me.

EconoLodge! They are by far the nicest and cheapest (book via the studentadvantage website). Btw, when I interviewed, there were 5 other NYU students there. It was pretty cool - I think Upstate likes NYU students.

And fly jetblue! It costs me 100 bucks round trip from NYC to Syracuse.

Just a side note...if you do fly and stay at the Econo Lodge, they have a free shuttle to and from the airport. There are also some others around Syracuse (e.g., Days Inn) that have this service too.

If you have some extra cash and are looking for a really nice place, go with the Sheraton right on the SU campus. About a 3-5 minute walk to Upstate. If not, the Gennesse Inn, or the Marx Hotel are nice as well. All either have shuttle services or a $5 cab ride to Upstate. From what I hear for traveling purposes, JetBlue is the way to go from NYC. Good Luck
