I called them and they said a decision was made on 8/3/04, wouldn't tell me what it was. I read how a few people here were contacted by phone for interviews from them. They said a letter has been mailed, does this mean a rejection or just that they couldn't contact me?

Hmmm...I got called, but that means nothing. They also said they were gonna send me a letter to give information about the interview.

Are your stats in their ballpark? I am non-EDP, 3.81/29, NYS resident.

i'm pretty sure that all interviewees are contacted by a phone call
-- also, they notify accepted students with a phone call as well.
usually a letter from upstate isn't good news. sorry bro.

Well my undergrad GPA is 3.10, grad GPA is 3.4 and science GPA is 3.5, MCATs are 28

I don't mean to be the harbinger of bad news, but--at this point, good news comes via phone, and bad news comes in the mail. Don't worry if the news you get now isn't great, they create a hold list of people that they reconsider inviting to interview later in the year.

In terms of what Upstate is looking for, I can't think of anything specific that Upstate wants that another school wouldn't be just as happy to see. All med schools want to see a dedicated, well-adjusted student who has some clinical experience and knows what they are getting into . I realize this isn't extremely helpful to those applying, but I figured I'd throw my 2 cents in anyways.

I called last week and got the same response, about 5 days later I got the interview invite via phone 👍 👍

Applications are screened as soon as they are complete. After the initial screening, applications are either selected for an interview, held for further review or rejected. If you were told you would be receiving something in the mail, you are probably being held for additional evaluation at a later date.
