I had a rough Freshman year and ended with a 2.8sish( C's in Gen Bio and one C+ in a 400 level philosophy class) I'd like to attribute that to immaturity. My Sophomore year went much better and I got a 3.67 first semester and a 3.8 second semester( Second semester was all science credits 17 of them, 1 B+ in a 4 credit ruined my shot at a 4.0)

I was wondering what are my chances with a continued trend as this/is my freshman year going to be a huge issue. Any people with similar freshman years?

Beginning volunteer work at hospital this summer, will continue that for the next two years.

Some Stats:

I started basic science research my freshman year (working on my own project), will have 4 years by the time I graduate. (also have an internship w/ biopharm company)

Helped start a club team, acting as treasurer/VP and will be for rest of the time. 4 years.

Gen Bio- 2 C's
Gen Chem- B+, A
Chem Lab- B+
Organic Chem- B+, have yet to take second one.
Orgo Lab- Haven't taken yet
Physics- B
Physics Lab- A
Genetics 400 Level- A and B+

Thanks

You'll be fine. Just keep doing your best and get your gpa as high as possible.

Yeah you don't need to be worried at all. Just keep getting good grades. Keep those grades up as high as you can. You're doing just fine.

With your current work ethic, you could end up in good shape. Your current cGPA should be about 3.16. With two more years of excellent performance in the 3.7-4.0 range, you could end the fourth year with a 3.43 to 3.58 (higher with summer school or a fifth year). With the strong upward grade trend and a 32-33+ MCAT score, you'd be competitive for allopathic med schools. Pay attention to your BCPM GPA too, though, as you also will need to get that higher with upper-level Bio coursework. Each C needs 3-4 same-credit As to redeem it.

Thank you all for your answers. One question for Catalystik. I was strongly considering taking one year off after senior year to work, volunteer and take part time classes (some what of a fifth year) With that I feel i could definitely raise the GPA up over ~3.5. Is that extra time looked upon negatively? And also just out of curiosity I understand AMCAS recalculates a B+ to a 3.3? My school however does not offer an A-. Therefore it is either an A or a B+, does that lead to a disadvantage?

Thanks
