There is no need for a trend if you are always in range.
In case you were not aware, this kind of perseveration is not healthy.
First off, that's not an upward trend, that's a small mountain with two sides.
Second off, the variation in your GPA is so small that the aforementioned mountain is actually an ant-hill and doesn't make the slightest plop on a topographical map.
You've got a consistently great GPA, dear pre-med. You're in no need of an "upward trend" because you've never been downward.
Low GPA < Upward trend < Consistently high GPA = you

I'd write your "overcoming challenge/adversity" essay on how you beat all the odds in raising your GPA from a 3.83 to a 4.0. Sounds riveting. I'm sure the Adcoms would open their desk drawer, put stamp to red ink, and put "ADMITTED" on your app right after reading it.

Have you taken stats? This seems to me more like variation about the mean rather than data representing any general trend.
You could probably look at your grades over time and test it out statistically in fact.
