This was on a hand out in my anesthesiology rotation today. Never having seen the term before, I asked about it. The attending, of course, responded "look it up and get back to me tomorrow". PubMed & Google were no help. Can any of y'all tell me what this is?

BTW: The original question linked the term to hypertransfusion.
 
never heard of it, but by your name, I'd guess you're a Wilco fan. I've been getting really into them the past 6 months or so. I got turned onto them from Tweedy's work with Golden Smog, which includes some of the guys from the Jayhawks. I also just got the Uncle Tupelo Anthology (Tweedy's original band) Does this mean you're in Chicago? Anyway, good luck with the word.
 
maybe it's a typo and the attending is just busting your balls/ovaries....

Yep, I'm a Chicago Wilco fan. If you are looking for more Wilco related material I highly recommend Jim O'Rourke's Insignifigance. Tweedy & Kotche both play on it & O'Rourke (now in Sonic Youth, produced both YHF & AGiB by Wilco) is a genius.

I also think it's a typo, maybe I should make up some elaborate pathophys & see if my attending buys it.

Highly seconded on the Jim O'Rourke, although he sounds nothing like Wilco. His earlier albums (Eureka, Halfway to a Threeway) are also highly recommended.
