Here are a few things to think about:
Do you want to go to the same school for undergrad and pharm?
- You might have an advantage over transfer students if you go along that path.
Do you want to work during school?
- You might have an easier time finding a part-time job in an urban area, because a larger city will need more pharmacies.
- There may be more independent pharmacies or local chains in a rural area; those pharmacies probably have a distinct clientele or system of operation. (There's a Thrifty Way pharmacy in my hometown, and it's sooo cute!) You might find more veterinarian pharmacies in a rural setting due to livestock or farming.
Do you need peace and quiet to study or does action in your surrounding motivate you?
- A rural area should offer more peace and quiet, but it could get boring.
- An urban area should have more to utilize, but there might be more crowds, traffic, and noise.
I like rural and urban areas, but variety makes me happy, so I like urban areas more.
I always wanted to go to professional school in a big city and here I am!
