Hello everyone,

So here is my situation.....

In choosing which schools to apply to, I noticed that some of the ones which I would apply to require microbiology as a required pre-requisite, something which for some reason I never realized. I never planned to take microbio since it is not part of my cell & developmental bio major, and UCSB only offers it in the fall, which is probably before I even know where I will be going.

If I took it at UCSB, my schedule that quarter, my senior fall quarter schedule would consist of Human Physiology, Developmental Bio, and Microbiology :O

I am already planning to take human anatomy at the local city college next spring (not offered at UCSB). They also offer Medical Microbiology.

So here are my questions:

1) Would taking medical microbio at community college cover the pre-requisite for most dental schools?
2) If I list a planned course in my AADSAS, am I then required to take it? Even if the school I get into does not require it?
3) Would these schools deny my application if they don't see this class on my schedule?

Hoping to send in my app as soon as I can figure this out. Thank you all!

1) Yes, the Microbio course that you take at a community college will cover the pre-requisite for any grad/ dental school. It's just stupid that UCs don't transfer some of these upper div bio courses taken at a community college. I took microbio at CC as well.

2 &3) I'm not sure but I think it would be best if you take whatever you list on your submitted AADSAS app... But I don't know for sure. Anyone?

You would have to check. Most of the schools im applying to strictly will not accept CC's for prereq like MUSC, BU and TUF.

I think should do take it. Dont want to lie on your application now would you?

Dont quite understand that last question.

I got an interview at Michigan even though they require a Sociology class. I didn't put it as a class I was going to take it either. So as far as interviews I don't think it matters, but you do need to take all courses before matriculating.
