I realized that i made a huge hours mistake on one activity. I calculated hours by weeks instead of semester and as a result, doubled the hours. I looked over this app so many times before submitting and now extremely anxious and freaking out. After talking to med students and my pre-med advisor, I'm stuck on the right way to address this issue.

I got interviews and am unsure how to tell these schools + others, should I call their office or send an email? ~most urgent because I am interviewing soon~

any advice is appreciated! thank you for your patience and kindness!

a very short email of 1-3 sentences and no more.

Due my oversight, I miscalculated the hours for activity XX multiplying by weeks instead quarters. The correct hours should be XX. I regret any issue this may have caused.

thank you!!!

It’s funny to me that some of the smartest students in the country miraculously seem to forget how to do basic math when writing applications but then have sudden realizations about said errors when interviews start coming in

I'm really glad I caught it when examining my primaries for the umpteenth time, so I can take responsibility for an honest mistake on basic math and reconverting wks. Everyone (even doctors) makes mistakes; it's good to catch them and learn from them ahead of a long professional goal, preventing more serious mistakes.

also, I'm a bit bashful that you consider me one of the smartest students in the country, despite not knowing much about me -- or do you say this to all the stressed out pre-meds applicants that you judge? Hope you have a great rest of your afternoon and that you spread compassion rather than sarcastic, unhelpful remarks. 🙂
