I usually don't use subject headers like "urgent" but I'm having a mini-freak out about my interview on Monday, so I feel this might warrant it:

I have an interview/open house day on Monday. 2 POIs emailed and asked to meet with me during the time allotted for interviews. I made an appointment with one POI for 11:00AM, and then emailed the other to ask whether meeting at 11:30 or 12:00 would suit her schedule (There are 3 30-min blocks of time/POI for interviewing during the interview portion of the day). The second POI has never emailed me back to say that 11:30 or 12:00 works for her. I definitely want to meet with her, and I don't want her to think that I am uninterested, but I also hate to seem pushy by emailing her back to say "Did you figure out whether 11:30 works for you yet?"

Keep in mind that at this point, the interview day is less than 48 hours away. Should I email her and run the risk of seeming pushy, or should I just wait until the morning of the interview day, and try to find her during the breakfast time to set it up? Now that I write this, the latter seems incredibly foolish, in the event that she isn't there during the breakfast and I run the risk of not being able to meet with her at all. So if I email her, how should I phrase it to avoid being pushy? You guys have been so helpful thus far! Any advice appreciated!😱

Well, when did they write to you? If they contacted you late in the week, the second faculty member probably just hasn't had the time to write back to you yet. I would just check your sent messages to make sure you did send the email to her. Then, I would hang tight. If I hadn't heard back from her by early Sunday evening, then I would send her a quick email.

When did you first email the 11:30/12 prof?

I responded to her email on Wednesday night. So it's been about 3 days.

Jezebel's suggestion was good though... wait until Sun evening, then send a brief email? If she still hasn't responded by Monday, then I guess I'll try to locate her when I arrive?

Personally, I would just email now. It's highly unlikely that she doesn't want to meet you anymore. And given that the Open House is tomorrow at 9 am, I would just send a second email asking when would be the best time for her to meet with you. I think you are justified in that at this point. Surely she just forgot, and when I say forgot I mean she's more likely than not just really busy, and emailing you back probably just slipped her mind.

Good luck tomorrow!

That's what I would do: send her a brief email Sunday night, if you haven't heard from her by then. And, if she still hasn't responded to you by Monday, you can find her when you arrive for your interview. Good plan.

I don't think she forgot. She may just be really busy, or she may be one of those professors who waits to the last minute to get things done, or both. : )

This, too, is good information to have. If you want to work with a professor who doesn't do things last minute, you may want to ask the graduate students who work with her about her style in getting things done. (I'm not saying that she is a last minute person, but it is something to check out, if it is important to you.)

Good luck at your interview!!!!
