"Foreign" med student here.

I'm on the ECFMG site filling out the application.

Item 17 is asking whether I'm a "Student" or a "Graduate", and says to, "Indicate whether you are currently a medical school student or graduate. Please read the instructions carefully before completing this item."

I read the instructions, "
Medical School Students

To be eligible for Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 2 CS, you must be officially enrolled in a medical school located outside the United States and Canada that is listed in IMED, available on the ECFMG website, both at the time that you apply and at the time you take the exam."

The thing is, my graduation date is this Friday, the 20th. So according to the instructions, I will be/am a STUDENT "at the time that I apply", but will not be a student at the time I take the exam. By exam time, I'll be a graduate.

So what do I choose? Medical Student, or Graduate?

I'd call ECFMG but I think they're closed right now.

Graduate, I'd say...they will contact your medical school to confirm your status, and you have to send them the 186 form anyway, so by the time they have all of that you would be a graduate. Or just wait till friday! 🙂

Call ECFMG, they will tell you the correct way to do it.
