Hi,

I have a question about URM status. Are jews considered a URM??? Technically speaking they are a minority group???😕

The only thing that makes getting is "harder" is being an idiot. There are plenty of threads on this subject, you could have easily done a quick search and gotten your answer pretty quickly. Generally, URM=hispanic/latino/black/african-american. If you're not one of those races, you could be disadvantaged, but you're not a URM.

Jews are ORM. URM as I last checked was restricted to only 4 groups: native americans, blacks, mexican-americans, and puerto-rican born americans (not Puerto Ricans born elsewhere).

what about being a lefty???? I tell you, it's not easy living in a righty world. Pinkie smudges when writing in pencil, having to reach over and turn your wrist upside down to swipe your credit card on the righty card machines, never being able to find a left-handed catcher's mit when you're a kid so you never know the joy of playing catcher. The list goes on and on... I'm just not sure if I should consider myself a URM or disadvantaged?

disadvantaged, lol. I actually have no idea if lefties are under-represented in medicine or not. i have a feeling they're equally-represented. but how knows. There's a study to do.

Lol. Hispanics and latinos are the same. The word "hispanic" is a government endorsed term while "latino" is not.

You should run for president. I think 7-10 percent of the population is left handed while 8 of 44 (18%) prez were. You are twice as likely to get the seat.

OP, you got your answer. For whatever reason and to whatever end, Jews, as well as a number of other minorities such as those stated above by jaxasp, definitely do not equal URM.
