Hi, I just finished my first year of medical school, and I'm pretty much set on being a Urologist. I also really want to get a residency in CA. Is it really as hard as most people make it out to be (getting a residency in CA from other states)? Is there information on the internet or here where they give some stats (board scores and grades etc.) on the residency programs in CA? Thanks.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to get a urology residency anywhere, let alone Cali. I don't think you'll really find out the board scores and grades of the current residents in California, but if you looke at urologymatch.com you can find out what people matched at those programs and where they went to medical school.

California programs are highly sought residencies (in particular the state schools and USC). The residents who matched there were likely outstanding students from outstanding schools.

This isn't to say that other residencies don't match outstanding students, but my impression is that lots of people want the west coast.

there are no such stats that you could ever access.
common sense would dictate that cities or areas that people want to live in are going to be harder to match in.
would most people rather live in boston, san diego, chicago, san fran or would they rather live in hershey pa, kansas, or arkansas?
