Hey all,

I'm an MS-III leaning toward anesthesia, but I still have some significant interest in urology. I'm just looking for some input. What do you like/dislike about anesthesia? If you could go back and do it over again, would you still be an anesthesiologist? I have found the docs I have worked with to all be pretty happy, but there seems to be a lot of uncertainty about the field in the future with CRNA's, reimbursement, etc. What do you think? Thanks in advance.

If I could do it all over again, I would have gone to The Harvard School of Dental Medicine and gone into orthodontics. One of my neighbors is an orthodontist. The has tons of loot, and he never seems to work. It's too late for me, not too late for you.
If you can get into medical school, you can bypass the dismantling of medicine in the US and have a cash cow business.
Is it really too late for me... Yeah, Damn.

I have a friend who was also between Urology and Anesthesiology. He ended up doing Urology because he still wanted to see patients in the clinic. You have to do what you like. If you like clinic, even focused ones like Urology as opposed to general medicine clinic, you should go with that. Anesthesiology is more critical care than anything else, and as such is hospital/facility based. It's all about what you want to do rather than how much more Urologists make compared to Anesthesiologists or about mid-level encroachment.
