Hi everyone,

I'm an American medical student (and citizen) and am seeking a Canadian residency program, most probably in Pediatrics. I was wondering how competitive the programs are for non-Canadians and where I can get information about each program. Does anyone know if there is something equivalent to the FREIDA website in Canada?

According to a previous thread someone mentioned the Canadian residencies are for Canadian citizens only, but I didn't find this in the eligibility requirements in the Carms site. Does anyone know for sure either way?

Thank you all!

Sorry to tell you , but you do need to be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to be eligible for CaRMS. See http://www.carms.ca/eng/r1_eligibility_e.shtml. At the end of the page it says: Note that almost all jurisdictions require that applicants applying to provincial Ministries of Health funded positions are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents. As far as I know, all residency positions are funded by the provincial ministries.
As well as: http://www.carms.ca/eng/r1_eligibility_prov_e.shtml Under "Summary of intake criteria for United States Medical School Graduates" it says Eligible if Canadian citizen or Permanent resident of Canada.

We'd be happy to have you. Just find a nice Canadian to marry! 🙂
