Hi

For a Canadian citizen IMG who wants a surgical speciality and preferably ENT (But would do general as well), do I have better odds at Canada or the US?

I already had a M.Sc. in Canada (So probably good academic contacts who are scientists and neurologists) with more recent one month research exchange at McGill in ENT (with the chief of ENT, but Quebec itself is likely not possible).

I'm really lost at where to focus my efforts. I will get 2 months maybe 3 to do electives.. so where should I do them? Focus at my home university where I did my undergrad and Master's? or go to the US where I have uncles as physicians and would ultimately like to practice and live near them?

thanks!!!

(I'm MS2)

As a Canadian citizen, I definitely think your best odds are in Canada. From what I know it's REALLY hard to IMG match into oto, I don't know if being from good old Canada would make that plight any easier than other countries.

ENT is difficult to get into as an IMG in Canada. This year, as far as I know, we will only have one spot in the CaRMs match. Perhaps the US will have more opportunities.
