US vs Canadian Electives

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Canadian studying in Irish Medical school here.

I'd like to be competitive for the Canadian match, but also want to have a strong application for the US.

Would 1 month elective in the US be enough to get LORs and be competitive for the US match? This leaves me with 6-7 weeks of Canadian electives.

Thanks.

Yeah thats probably good enough.

One month is a bit short. Try and get as many electives as you can in the US. Many programs now require one year of hands on clinical experience in the US.

Here is an example see points #10 and 12

For additional hand on experience consider working with a company that helps IMGs (students and gradutes) set up rotations. This is an expensive option but it may give your application the boos that it needs.
