Phew ..now that the interview is over does anyone know how they are going to judge everyone...is it points on each aspect of the interview...or something?
I know that John does not want us contacting him for the next three weeks coz it will take them at least till then to decide.
Is there anyone there who was satisfied with their preps coz no one seems to be satisfied with them .... including me....?? Some made major blunders like placing the occlusal truss on the lingual cusps instead of the buccal functional cusps...
Also some made 3/4th preps with a MOD and some made an onlay with with the MOD....i'm pretty sure it was the MOD Onlay that they wanted...any one who thinks otherwise???

KOUA said:I don't think you are right about MOD onlay. In their assignment they said that MOD amalgam is wide therefor cusps are weak. You do not want to place onlay on weaken cusps, they will break.
I did 3/4 MOD.
I don't mean to be rude or dissappoint you but it was an MOD Onlay, I asked one of the professors, the bald russian guy.
You actually make an Onlay because you have missing or weakened cusps. I'm not sure how they score a wrong preparation that looks good but I don't think they deduct many points if the prep looks good.
I personally didn't do as well as I could or should have so I'm dissapointed like many others.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
You know, I still do not understand how you can put onlay on weaken cusps.Facials cusps are fine, they covered 1mm, but lingual..., we just 0,5mm bevel them. They are the one which will break.I still think that 3/4 MOD crown was the right choice.
Could be wrong tho.

I too thought the same and made the same preparation.
But I heard one of the professors over there were telling that MOD onlay is the correct prep.
I dont know how they would grade the wrong prep 🙄 .
But there were none to listen to my explaination and I felt very unhappy with the wrong prepration.
No need to discuss unless for the technicalities and core benefit of it.
from what I heard they are considering both the 3/4 and the MOD Onlay bute the later was the first choice according to USC, so just croos your finger and hope that what you did was done correctly, at this time this is what counts.

Though in other circumstances your argument would have been fine but somehow the underlined 'Minimal' was hinting toward the MOD onlay. But like fransisco said it doesn't matter ..the end result matters which is.."an acceptance" and i'm sure they will consider mistakes as long as they are few . I read somewhere in a post by meggs that snail mail means bad news and a fedex good news....is that true..??KOUA said:I don't think you are right about MOD onlay. I did 3/4 MOD.

I read somewhere that you got waitlisted ...congrats man..with the kind of competition this year that too is a great achievement. Is there a number that was assigned to you..?? I called john after your post..and he told me that they have sent out letters to the applicants and that we will know within this week but he was adamant on not letting up on any information regarding the final decision....

I wish you the best. Tell me in what number you are in the line, because if I will get acceptance to Colorado dental school I will preffer the last.
Congrats Koua!! Happy to know that you're through..i'm sure your prep must've been really great...! I absolutely did not mean to offend you if you did take any offence..i was merely putting my thoughts on the table for an open ended discussion...!!KOUA said:I think my arguments were more then fine because I have been accepted.Just found out today.
