Okay I've been looking for information about USC Dental school program, but all the info is pretty old.
I know there have been major changes/improvements in the program since they had a little trouble back in 2008. Can somebody please help me out?
Is the pbl (curriculum) improved?
how is the match rate for specialty programs?
how is the loan repayment?

thank you!

PBL isn't something that anyone worries about after first semester, it's fine. Plenty of people match, but I have no idea what the rate is, but people go into ortho, pedo, anesthesia, perio, pretty regularly, OS gets like 1-3 students a year, then most of the other OS want to be's do a one year OS internship and usually get in and i've seen one or two endo get in right out of dental school at USC but they usually want experience past dental school. The loan repayment tends to be armed forces scholarship, IBR, or PAYE unless your parents paid for it all for you which you see a lot of there. It's a fun program and you feel really comfortable clinically when you graduate and start working.

I am currently a senior. Most of the improvements have been made in the pre-clinical area, while clinic is hectic, disorganized, and crazy. PBL has not been improved. Most students get too lazy with the pbl process and most pbl faculty simply don't care. Pbl is suppose to last 3 hours but usually, after the 1st semester of first year, most people get out in 1 hour. I think clinic is where USC needs to focus their attention on. The current system does not work. Students book chairs in advance and "overbook" in the sense that they don't even know if the patient will show up. Then, on the day of the appointment, the chairs are cancelled. So usually, the schedule is FULL and prevents others from booking chairs but everyday, at least half the clinic floor is empty. I don't even think we have a lot of clinical requirements but everything is so hard to come by because you pretty much have to find your own patients. . .Seniors are technically 1 month away from graduation and most of us are still scrambling to finish last minute requirements...

As far as specialty match rates, we have a good amount of people in my class who matched into all different residencies: OS, ortho, pedo, etc.
