Any other predents from the Southern California region?

So people sometimes ask me about how my applications are going. They eventually ask if I interviewed at USC and try to convince me that this is THE school to go to because they honestly all believe it is the best school in the country. I usually just ignore things like this, but it seems to happen very often recently. It seems that a majority of the SoCal residents have a really high impression of the school, and that it is worth the money to pay for this brand-name school.

Now I do not have anything against the school and I think that the general dentist alumni definitely dominate the SoCal area, but with that 256k tuition, it is definitely not on the top of my list.

Not really sure what I hope to gain from this post. I guess it just came to me as a really big surprise to me when I heard these opinions, and I was wondering if anybody else had the same experience. Or is it just me?

Or is it just me?

I didn't apply but I get this too. I told my family that I applied to all the Cali schools except LLU and USC. They were confused about USC until I showed them my ADEA book and told them about USC's rep.

USC is a fantastic school for undergrad, research, and other graduate programs. It has name brand recognition. For me though, that price-tag the rumored quality of the PBL education doesn't seem worth it.

Some USC dental students probably enjoy their time immensely though so I doubt opinions on SDN (mine included) mean much without actually going to the school.

When I was growing up people would always refer to USC as the University of Spoiled Children!! Since the costs of the school was so high... 😀

Definitely at the bottom of the list of dental schools in terms of dental school rankings. But any school is a good one.

USC's clinical is awesome. PBL not so much. I have a headache right now from pbl.
