I dont think ,I did it good in los angeles during the practical stage of the interview.
I ve just wonder whether how did you all do in USC s practical interview?
Did you guys prepared for this part of interview prior to taking it?
How did you do do during this exam?
I know it s a subjectif thing to evaluate, but did you like what you did during the exam?
lets start to talk about it
thanks🙂

I know not many of our follow interviewees want to talk about it... it is understood.

I did something not very common regarding the bridge

"inlay bridge"

Here is a picture of something close to it, I made an extension on the lingual to cover the lingual fracture line.

I had just given the USC examination/interview and I did a bridge with PFM ont #20 and cast gold on #18 with the MO included within the cast prep. Hope that it went well.

It is a recommended solution.

Regarding my inlay bridge, I have some concerns since some books don't recommend it... but in some schools it is accepted.

which one is better? mod onlay+3/4 or gold metal and mo box?

They're both good as long as the perp is ideal with no nicking of teeth...

That kind of questions is really tricky since there are many ways to get around.

Anyways... remember what they said "there is no right preparation"

I believe (and I hope) that the only goal of all this is to see how good we are with clinical skills.

If I was the evaluator, I would mainly look for things like:
Availability of bevels and retention grooves
Proper reductions
Undamaged adjacent teeth
Good outlines
Respect of gingiva
Clearance
Undercuts
Proper taper

If ALL those are respected, then the work is good.

Like Samy says...
the evaluator would look for good work and good hand eye co-ordination,
more than which model is best suited in that case.
Considering every participant is an international dentist, everyones perspective differs.

like in 29, DO with mesial pit inclusion and exclusion, can be good enough, as long as they follow the basic cavity prep principles.

Best of luck to all.

I have prepared 3/4 veneer crown on number 20 and full gold crown on number 18. As 18 is already having a fracture line and MO amalgum we wouldn't reduce more tooth strucure to make it more week. and the MO amalgum was ideal so i prefer not to disturb the amalgum filling and cover the tooth with full gold crown prep to give more protection and cover the fractuer line. I made 3/4 crown on 20 to give aesthetic look and more surface area on lingual surface to give more support to the pontiac on # 19.
I am very satisfied for the prep i have made in the practical exam especially for the fixed partial denture. But...

I was concern about the class 2 prep on 29. Do we need to make wide proximal box than ideal as the decay was more than 0.2 mm deep in the dentin ? I just made an ideal prep. I don't know what they want on that.

Anyone think the above was good? let me know just wondering!!

If it was a 1st permolar, I would have said "don't cross the transverse ridge", but you should be fine as long as you left a 0.5 clearance on the proximal with a gingival bevel and retention grooves.... yes it is the traditional class II.

Regarding how you handled the bridge, it is all good as long as it is well done.

samyred, thanks for the good input, anyways good luck for usc.
