For those who have already interviewed, what senario (mock PBL) did they give you? Im sure they change it, but just to see what kinds of things they ask on interview day, can anyone help out? I have my interview on Tues.

They don't ask you anything on interview day. They give you a very simple scenario (needs no prep) and want to see how well you can yell at others around the table.

There is nothing you really need to do to prepare.

I disagree. You really should prepare. Bring an ice pack for your chin as it hits the table in your amazement at how expensive and odd the school is.

good call

I don't think the case study scenario changes. I was there on the first interview date and have heard of my case study being reused on two other occassions. Basically, it's the one about a woman getting sick on a cruise ship. The case study consists of 3 parts, each part building off the last one. It has kind of a surprise ending.

I've also heard that there are people who know ahead of time what the ending is and it becomes obvious who those people are. MY friend interviewed there several days after my interview. He came back and told me that within the first few minutes of the first part of the case study, someone was already going...in a very bad act..."wait guys...I think the symptoms might be pointing to ____. I mean, it could be that she is _____ because I know that ___."

anyway, like I said...surprise ending, but this person was guessing the surprise within the first few minutes skipping over all the obvious crap. Anyway, it doesn't matter if you get it right, all that they want to see is that you can work in a group, follow the steps of PBL and not be an dingus to the other group members.

Mine was different. Doesn't really matter though...they're all the same. They require no previous knowledge and don't jump to conclusions. They must always have a "suprise ending".

i just got a letter in the mail today from USC saying that my application has passed the preliminary review and on its way to the next level of review. did any of you guys receive something like that before they invite you for the interview? does it mean that i'm not good enough to get an interview at this time?

I got the same letter in the mail three weeks ago.

However, I never got any interview notices in either the mail or through email. I am still waiting waiting waiting on USC.

I only got a packet from USC after my interview saying I am in the Post Interview Wait List...

The PBL session it was a woman got sick on a cruise ship...she was pregnant. whats funny is she and her friends are dentist and they couldn't figure this out on there own.

I had someone in my group too who obviously knew the ending and blurted it out a few min. into the activity. She still put on a pretty good show of following the mis-cues but always came back to, "but she could be pregnant...". It would be much worse knowing the ending because then you would have to act like you didn't know...a whole new layer of stress.
