Usc interview
Started by smostajabian0
Any one knows what percent of people who are interviewed get acceptance at USC? And any tips for the interview? Thank you in advance
check out the school specific threads, those will give you the info that you are looking for.

The website says they interview 500 ppl and their class size is 144. That's about 29% but I am assuming they admit more than their number of seats.

Yesterday at the interview, they said they admit about 50% of the interviewed students....
So... try to be better than 1/2 of your mock-PBL group haha!
jk, just be yourself.
wow thats a lot ! 50% ~ 😛
11/6 here, any1 else?
USC is all about collecting you money.
The dean can care less about the students. He just sits back and doses off when holding a conference with students.
Faculties lie to students. They said "the exam will be written based on what the students submit to the question bank" But the exam was already written before the question bank was even created..
They pick students who are good at taking tests (maybe based on the DAT), so these students can pass the boards without them teaching anything.
They try to save money by hiring part-time cheap people (residents, phD's) to facilitate PBL, so they don't have to hire full-time DDS's to teach.
The whole school is a mess. You won't even know what topics will be covered on the exams because of PBL. The questions on the exams are very random, so your grades depend on luck (if what you study matches with the questions on the test, you're good)
Oh. And the exams are a huge mess too. Full of typos and repeated questions. (For example, question 107 is the same as question 117, word for word.) It shows how much the faculties care.
There is more about how this dental school sucks.Only go to USC if it's your only choice.

This sound is really disheartening because I always want to go there. Is the PBL program that bad?

I would't worry about that comment too much. PBL is definitely not for everyone, in my opinion this sounds like an example of one of those cases. The things this person is complaining about seem pretty trivial, they are unhappy with the school but many others love it, I spoke to a bunch of them at the interview, and know others personally. Do your research and find out if PBL is for you, don't let some bitter person scare you off.

....sadly what is stated above is true :/ At USC, you spend all your efforts figuring out how to study than actually studying the material. PBL is a joke.

USC dental school is not the same as USC undergrad. USC undergrad earned the name for them.
PBL is pretty bad. The worse thing is how much the faculties care =0%.

You said that they accept students who are good at taking test
How can you explain that I am invited to an interview and I got 18 DAT
Am I just invited to give me a hope and be thrown away after an interview?
That sounds like scary to me

There are a few people from my class that have 18 DAT with a high science GPA
my cousin who went to ucla said all his friends from usc got notes from their ucla friends to study because pbl was such a failure
Honestly, even though PBL sucks, the midterm we just took was actually pretty close to the topics that we have covered in PBL so any material we got from upperclassmen was not as useful as I thought.
