Thanks!case western! no internal rankings, cheaper, and more prestigious. seems you're not terribly interested in staying in CA for residency so there's no reason why USC would have the upper hand for matching (and case prob matches just as well to california honestly). i'm really sorry to hear about the burning out, but to be frank you will probably meet your share of racist patients wherever you go, including keck. not a reason to turn down case for usc.
30k in total. They’re both exorbitantly expensive but Keck goes above $100k per year.Is that 30k extra every year or in total?
If it's 30k extra every year, I'd lean toward Case. If it's altogether, finances is pretty moot then. In which case I'd say go with your gut since it's gonna be a personal decision.

My gut is confusing me LOL
Yes we’re definitely a scandalous school 🤣 Idk if I’ll get the chance to go to Cleveland in the next few months, but I do hope to learn about the city as much as possible!Have you visited Cleveland? I'd give it a visit and see if that sways you. I personally would probably go with Case because (no offense) USC and Keck are just laden with scandals, but it might be different for you if you already have a USC degree lol
I definitely think you should visit cleveland before you make such a major life decision. Cleveland is a very different urban center than Los Angeles. Also 30k difference is small enough to justify USC if you want to go that way imoYes we’re definitely a scandalous school 🤣 Idk if I’ll get the chance to go to Cleveland in the next few months, but I do hope to learn about the city as much as possible!
I appreciate this detailed response. In terms of nature, I've heard that Cleveland has some of the best parks in the nation. Leaning towards Case even more now. Also considering Case and currently leaning there. I will say, your list of pros and cons certainly favors case. I went to Case for my master’s, so I’ll share my insight after living in Cleveland.
I’m from the NYC area so, like you, was completely unfamiliar with the area or the people when I moved there. First and foremeost, Cleveland is not like the cities we’re used to. It has a downtown that is distinct and feels as downtown should, though the city and population is smaller. It is not nearly as lively as LA or NYC, but that didn’t bother me.
It was easy to make friends. I don’t think, especially given the large class size, you should be at all concerned about finding your people. I found it very beneficial to my academic life that I was away from my college and home friends and the coinciding distractions.
There’s plenty to do in the Cleveland area; and, let’s be real, a lot of our time will be spent on school and EC’s anyway. The absolute BEST part about Cleveland, and the reason I’m likely going to suck it up and drag my SO back there w me for 4 more years, is the COL. This really can’t be underestimated for someone that has finances as a serious consideration. You will not stress about money there, unlike many of the major US cities.
Is Cleveland amazing? No. Is it where I see myself in 20 years? God no. Is it a terrible place? Not at all. I think it is, unfortunately, a great place to be for a grad student that wants to do well in school. You won’t have too many social or financial distractions, yet enough there is enough nature and city life around for people will different interests. The area around Case is actually a nice little bubbles and downtown is a mile down the road from the (beautiful) med school. There’s a lot to long for in Cleveland, but it’s well worth all that Case itself has to offer IMO.
Yup, that’s their claim to fame! lmao. A few people ik picked up rock climbing while living there so there’s people down to do things other than schoolI appreciate this detailed response.
